    Notes
    • The following is an extract from a document prepared in 1988 by William George Banham, family historian:

      MARIA BELLE BANHAM.
She was the youngest of the family. She followed in the footsteps of some of the other family members and spent her schooldays at the Meadowbank School. She also fell to doing chores around "Prospect" that her elder brothers and sisters had outgrown, or at least they thought they had.
When "Prospect" was sold and Frances (her widowed mother) had her home built in Pye Street, Marie cared for her mother until she married.
She married Pat O'Neil. Just prior to his marriage Pat had an accident whilst riding through the bush and he had broken his leg. The ultimate outcome was a stiff leg for the remainder of his life. However that did not deter him in his everyday activities.
When this couple first married Pat was the proud owner of a horse team. One of his main chores was getting felled logs out of the surrounding hills and down to the local sawmill. The couple went to the Murga area to live and spent the greater portion of their lives in the district.
When the harvesting season came around there was always work hauling grain to the silos. Then there was never any shortage of contract fencing, clearing etc. Irrespective of what work was on offer there was always one thing that could be assured of, it was always hard, hard work.
Pat O'Neil and his wife Marie are two people who would thoroughly understand the full meaning of a quote made by a leading politician in recent years, 'Life was not meant to be easy. '
During their term at Murga the couple reared a family of nine children:- Ted lives at Spring Hill, NSW, Ron at Gosford, NSW, Bill at Orange, NSW, Bob at Murga, NSW, Bridget at Orange NSW, Barbara (Mrs. Davis) at Cowra, NSW, Colleen (Mrs. Frogley) at Parkes, N.S.W and John at Liverpool, NSW.
Patricia, deceased in 1947 aged two years, was buried in the Eugowra Cemetery. Pat O'Neil died in 1972 and was buried in the Eugowra Cemetery.
Marie lives with her son Bob, still in the Murga area. That is where she has spent the major portion of her life. What's more, and most important of all, that is where she is happy to be.
Her busiest period of a week now days is at the weekend as there are always family members returning to check on her welfare and grandchildren to dote on Grandma.
